DEPLORABLE COMPANY - GM VAN LINES

I strongly urge anyone to avoid this horrific company. From Oded to David, not only are they unprofessional, but they are incompetent and could care less about you, your items or your state of mind.

They damaged MULTIPLE pieces of furniture. Photos show their gross negligence in adequately wrapping the items leaving them exposed.

After 7 months they offered $75 as a settlement. This is a customary practice.

Should you not take the advice, I highly suggest you do the following.

● Document EVERYTHING.

● DO NOT for one second give these people the benefit of the doubt.

● Should you have to file a claim, BE VIGILANT to ensure that your processing doesn't take months with Moving Claims and their outdated processing.

● Take photos while they're delivering.

I implore you to pay the higher cost and hire actual decent human beings and professionals. When an employee tells you that they don't understand emails then ask you to provide the job# which is something that they should have - Houston we have a problem.

Stay clear of GM SCAM LINES which will prove to be the absolute worst company you'll ever encounter.

You've been warned.

Smooth Movers

GM Van Lines saved the day! They made sure every single thing was wrapped up tight so nothing got damaged on the way to my new place. The movers were right on time, super-fast, and really professional. They moved my apartment to a new city without a hitch. The movers were total pros too, really polite and always willing to help out. They made moving day a breeze! They provided a clear breakdown of costs, and there were no hidden fees. The customer service was excellent from start to finish. Everything was wrapped securely to prevent any damage during the move. Even though our relocation was complex, they handled it smoothly thanks Max for his careful planning.

A Headache During An Already Stressful Ordeal

I contacted GM Van Lines in late August. I spoke to a man named Howard who told me that in order to hold the reservation at the price quoted, I needed to pay a deposit of nearly $700. No other company I spoke to asked for a deposit up front like Howard did; but he assured me that if I decided to cancel, the refund would be posted immediately. After I spoke to several other companies over the next week or so, I chose to go a different route and called GM Van Lines to cancel my reservation. Howard was very upset, but after much arguing he finally said he would process the refund and it would take 10 business days to post.

After waiting for over 15 business days, I called the company and spoke to Trisha who informed me that the job had never been cancelled and I was still scheduled for pickup on the specified date. Not only that, but if I were seeking a refund, it should have been posted immediately and not 10 days later like Howard had said. She contacted her boss, Oded, who posted the refund the very next day (now late September). At that point, I thought the ordeal was over.

The refund sat as a pending transaction on my credit card account for 4 or so business days before mysteriously disappearing. I called my credit card company who told me that when a transaction disappears like that it usually means that it was cancelled by the issuing company. I called GM Van Lines and spoke to Trisha again who called Oded and called me back to say that he said that the problem was not on their end; so I was left to sit there wondering where the transaction went. Finally after several days of both companies shrugging their shoulders at me and several phone calls in both directions, the problem was rectified and the refund was applied to my account; but not without significant anxiety on my part because I was currently in the middle of packing my entire house and moving my family out-of-state while I was wrestling with this issue.

Dealing with this company was a nightmare. Howard was pushy, disrespectful, deceitful, and patronizing in my dealings with him; and he was especially disrespectful, angry, and insulting during my first attempt to cancel the deposit. I do not know why the second attempt at a refund was so tumultuous, but it certainly was ill-timed on GM's part considering Howard's behavior for the first attempt; and it was the final blow that killed any goodwill I may have retained for this company and their intentions. My advice for those seeking a moving company is to go elsewhere and save yourself a major headache.

Scammers! Don't use them!!

Used them in June 2024. Worst moving company ever. Don't use them! They quoted an amount and then increased the quote by $2000 on the day of pick up. They also lost a $500 marble table top and made no effort to locate it. After 7 months of processing my claim by their bogus claims company, they offered to pay $75 as compensation. These people are scammers.

Best of the best.

My husband and I were extremely pleased with our recent move with GM Van Lines. The crew arrived on time and went right to work. They were very strong, able men who moved a hot tub and some very heavy machines of my husband. They professionally wrapped and taped items, disassembling those items that needed it. The trucks were carefully packed to the top. The next day the crew arrived on schedule and began unloading in 25 degree weather. Boxes were delivered to the appropriate rooms and furniture set up where we asked and carefully moved if we changed our minds. Max quickly repaired a broken cabinet leg. Mr. Gur gave our estimate in a very professional manner. He was the only one of the three movers we interviewed that gave us a printed estimate immediately. He gave my husband a veteranes discount and we felt the price was very reasonable. We would definitely recommend GM Van Lines.

Horrible Service.

I would like to tell you a little about our move.  I was told (I think by the owner) on Monday, June 29th, when I called, that the next day (Tuesday, June 30th) there would be two packers at my house at 9AM to start our pack.  The first guys showed up at 12:30PM.  Not a great sign but not a huge deal in the scheme of things.   There were 4 packers once the truck got there and the owner was there as well.  I believe the owner left about 5PM.  Other than asking some questions about what went and what did not go, they packers worked on their own.  I told them I would take the liquids and packed the fridge and freezer myself.  I also packed the entire master bathroom because they had forgotten to do it.  At approximately 11:30PM (yes, 11 hours later) and after re-packing the truck at least twice, two of the guys got into a physical altercation in my bedroom and one of them got in his girlfriend’s car and left.  They did not finish loading the truck until 3AM.  Yes, that is right, 3AM, more than 14 hours after they started.  When I moved from Ft. Lauderdale to Dania Beach, packing, loading, driving, and UNLOADING took less than 10 total hours.  Because it was 3AM by the time they were done, I did not have time to clean the house, nor did I have time to drive to Sarasota.  I had to incur the cost of a hotel room ($130) and a cleaning crew ($160) because I had to be in Sarasota the next morning to meet the realtor, get the keys, and meet the truck.  Additionally, because I had to leave before the cleaning was all completed, my wife had to ship some of the items we had packed in her car via Fedex Ground so she would have room in her car to bring the shop vac, vacuum, and cleaning supplies.  That cost us an additional $200.  So, we had almost $500 in additional costs because of the incompetence and complete lack of professionalism exhibited by the crew.  It did not appear any of them had the experience to lead the crew or pack the truck.   And, based on how our items arrived, clearly none of them had ever successfully packed either.   Whoever packed the front closet, with my tools and other items, did not use even 1 piece of paper.  He threw boxes of screws and bolts into the box without even putting a piece of tape on the front to keep them closed.  When they arrived there were hundreds of screws at the bottom of the box.  He also threw in lightbulbs.  No box, no paper, just lightbulbs in a box with a ton of tools.  Obviously all the light bulbs broke.   Whoever packed the kitchen also did not seem to want to use paper.  This included an open box of baking soda and two open flour bags (both put in upside down).  When those arrived everything in that box was covered with flour and baking soda.  Also, at the bottom of that box, under all the heavy dry good, were 6 coffee mugs and a bunch of items stuffed into our metal trash can.  The trash can was all mangled and had to be thrown away.  The mugs were all broken and also needed to be thrown away.  Why would anyone pack a box with an open (did not even have a top) box of baking soda?  And why would you put the glass/breakable items on the bottom and then throw a bunch of heavier things on top.   After trying to resolve this with the company, I was told I had to file a claim for the broken items (about $5000 worth of stuff) which could take up to 120 days, and they were unwilling to do anything to compensate us for the extra expenses we had to endure due to the lack of capability/professionalism/experience of the crew.

GM VAN LINES BROKE DESTROYED MY ANTIQUES AND OTHER FURNITURE

GM Van Lines do not use these guys they will ruin all your stuff and when you try to file a claim you have to down load some Wave Browser and it takes over your computer. And trying to get a straight answer from Dave or Oden or David will do you no good! Basically no money will be paid to you for your things. USE SOMEBODY ELSE!!! Terrible customer service!

Literally the worst move experience I’ve ever had

Trish was so nice and I went with them based on that. She seemed thorough and agreed to the timeframe for the move.

The packers are not packers. They shoved fragile items in with heavy things. Lampshades with heavy things not wrapped. They broke three plates and not sure what else yet as I’m still unpacking. I should have used Clover like I have in the past. They pack and unpack everything. I didn’t think to ask about unpacking. I just assumed they would do that as that’s what white glove service is. The movers were nice at times and rude when I questioned the bill at the end. It wasn’t what Trish estimated.

She blamed the change in start time on their dispatch dept. Not my problem. They said my pack and move wouldn’t take as long as I said. I know my stuff and was right. Because they didn’t arrive until 12:30pm (supposed to be 9am) they didn’t get moved out until after 5pm. They arrived at my new building just before 6pm when the elevators and loading dock was closing. Luckily I got my building to stay open to let them move me in last night. They dropped it all and left. I heard them complaining about me in the garage. I would absolutely never, ever use them again under any circumstances. They moved something that wasn’t supposed to go and now I have to find another company to move it back to my old place in order to get my deposit back. I never write bad reviews, but I had to because this was an absolute nightmare experience. DON’T USE GM VAN LINES.
